Somewhere Down the Road

Nina – Somewhere Down the Road – “Letting go is just another way to say I’ll always Love you so “
Who knows, maybe Somewhere Down the Road we’ll see each other again.

SOMEWHERE DOWN THE ROAD – Lyrics
Barry Manilow / Nina

We had the right love
At the wrong time
Guess I always knew inside
I wouldn’t have you for a long time

Those dreams of yours
Are shining on distant shores
And if they’re calling you away
I have no right to make you stay

But somewhere down the road
Our roads are gonna cross again
It doesn’t really matter when
But somewhere down the road
I know that heart of yours
Will come to see
That you belong with me

Sometimes good-byes are not forever
It doesn’t matter if you’re gone
I still believe in us together
I understand more than you think I can
You have to go out on your own
So you can find your way back home

And somewhere down the road
Our roads are gonna cross again
It doesn’t really matter when
But somewhere down the road
I know that heart of yours
Will come to see
That you belong with me
Letting go is just another way to say
I’ll always love you so

We had the right love
At the wrong time
Maybe we’ve only just begun
Maybe the best is yet to come
‘Cause

Somewhere down the road
Our roads are gonna cross again
It doesn’t really matter when
But somewhere down the road
I know that heart of yours
Will come to see
That you belong
With me

Somewhere Down the Road is one of Nina’s top hit songs, I love Bary Manilow’s version, but there’s just something about Nina’s rendition that makes it extra meaningful.

The Wedding Nuisance

Mar 10 2008

Oz and I just came home from the nearby supermarket. On our way home, we’ve noticed a bridal car, and the couple who were in it looked really happy. Obviously, they just got married, they’re probably heading to a resort for their honeymoon or something.

I couldn’t help but smile, Oz grinned and teased me about getting wed and all, but I wasn’t really thinking about that. The couple reminded me of our friends RT and Anne who got married a couple of years ago. I was one of the people who were given a role to play for their wedding. They made me a part of the entourage, and I was also assigned to do the second reading from the gospel. I never had any experiences of attending weddings before, and worse I couldn’t make it to the rehearsals due to my very hectic schedule back then. It was a peak season for the business, most especially because international shows were lined up.

The wedding day came and I had an unexpected emergency meeting with the designers of a French-owned fashion accessories company. The client was really an important one, because the owner himself came to see our showroom to check out our new designs. Being the Client Relations and Marketing manager, it was my job to entertain them, and introduce our new designs for fall, as well as our concepts for the winter season.

My friends kept on calling up because everything was all set and the bride was almost at the church. I was really worried because they would really feel bad if I wouldn’t make it. So, I told everyone of my appointment and they were laughing saying I could’ve told them and just canceled the meeting. But of course I don’t want to be unprofessional, and I told the client how important it was for me to have them around. Kristoff, the French owner just laughed and said that the presentation was great and he’s going to make orders and promote our new designs to the French market. I was really glad, at least the efforts paid off. Good thing, my uncle came with our head designer and I excused myself from the meeting as they took down the orders. They wished me well and we all hoped that I would still make it. I drove really fast to the church, raced with time, and I made it.

I felt so lucky and blessed because I’ve chosen the alternative way, there wasn’t much cars along the way, otherwise I would’ve been caught up in a heavy traffic. I couldn’t believe I made it just right before Anne, the bride, got out of the bridal car. I parked the car immediately and ran to the line where my other friends who were part of the entourage were lined up, ready to do the march thingie. I sighed in relief, and was really glad that I made it. But, the problem was, I wasn’t dressed right for the occasion. I was just wearing jeans, shirt and for the burning god’s sake “sneakers”, I had an overcoat though, but still, it’s not the right attire for a wedding.

Everyone looked so fabulous, guys wearing the traditional Barong Tagalog and trousers, with the super shiny black shoes, and girls were wearing their gowns. My friends hugged me out of gladness. I hugged Anne and told her I might not be able to do my part because of my attire, but she was just so happy to see me there and she said it doesn’t matter, that she wouldn’t want anyone else to to do my part.

And so, I wiped the sweat on my forehead dry and marched together with everyone… and guess what? I’ve done the reading as well.

It’s one of the most unforgettable moments in my life, it was perfect.

Mac and the PC

Mar 09 2008

People often find our house weird because we have too many pets at home. There’s a total of five dogs in our house but only one cat, Mac. Aside from them we also have fishes, in fact we have three aquariums at home, two of them are huge and are located outdoors while one isn’t so huge and is located indoor. We have a pond with a few fishes too and a few turtles. e have bunnies, a couple of guinea pigs and hamsters. We used to have love birds but my mom gave them away for good. Imagine all the cleaning up, the pet supplies, the pet food, yeah our house is almost like a pet care center but not exactly, because most of those pets have their own respective areas outdoors, except for Mac, who spends most of his time indoors. Mac is the most sociable pet of them all, and he tries to find all the comfy places he could find inside the house. I guess most of you have already seen Mac.

yoga for good health

Mar 09 2008

Awhile ago, we were discussing about which exercise provides the most benefits for the body and the entire whole being, and we all agreed on one thing. I guess I have not written about it before, but one of my favorite exercises aside from playing basketball, swimming and doing capoeira, would be yoga. My younger brother Jay and I, together with my best buddy Oz used to attend yoga classes. It costs more than the other exercise class I’ve attended but it’s really worth it. It’s great not only for relaxation but as well as for the body and spirit. It makes you feel relieved from stress and you feel so refreshed after. But one must take note that yoga should be learned with proper guidance, otherwise it maybe detrimental to your health and may cause unwanted muscle or joint sprains, or even worse, because it could cause damage to your spine. So, if you are interested in doing it, look for an authentic and trained instructor.
There are a lot of benefits of doing yoga, toning your muscles would be one, but if they don’t get toned don’t feel frustrated because you are getting the best exercise for your lungs as well as for your internal organs. Many people seem to overlook the advantages of yoga for man. It makes your blood pressure stable, develops good breathing and releases toxins from your body.
There are actually different types of yoga exercise, there’s even a funny way of doing it called the laughing yoga, but it’s really fun. Here’s a video that I found that may inspire you to do yoga as well, next time I’ll post something about capoeira.

nomad experience

Mar 09 2008

There are people who are always running here and there. What I mean is that, they’re always moving from one place to another. It could be due to the nature of their jobs or perhaps out of passion for traveling to see different places and experience a different culture.
One of my dreams is to be able to go to places far away from where I am right now, just like Africa. It’s a dream that Karl, Ian, and I share since we were kids. Karl has been to numerous places around the globe already because of the nature of his job, so it’s more like he just experience the place, the food, etc. Basically, it’s like taste testing the best of different worlds, since he can’t really stay too long, because they are given limited time off the shore. Ian hasn’t traveled that much, he’s also a seaman by profession because he wanted to be just like Karl. But, he fell in love and have chosen to stay behind to be with woman that he loves, most especially now that they have a baby. In my case, I have traveled to a few places, lived, and experienced different kind of cultures and lifestyles. What can I say? It’s been a wonderful experience for me. Seeing people from different walks of life, tasting different kinds of food and experiencing the unique way of eating them. Even the weather changes was a great challenge at first because I am very sensitive to weather changes due to my allergies and asthma. But, I never really had medical issues while I was on the road, and I felt so blessed because I would not know just how to manage just in case anything bad happened while I was all alone.
I’ve noticed the difference in every place, the architecture, ambiance, and even the smell — you can really differentiate. Perhaps it has something to do with both the weather, the food, and the type of cooking. I guess, another factor would be hygiene routines. I’ve noticed that in some places people take a shower after a long day, I think they’d rather feel comfy and relaxed upon ending the day and retiring to bed. But normally, in most places, people are fresh from the shower during the morning, and freshens up again at the end of the day.
I won’t forget my nomad days, they’re one of the most wonderful experiences that I’d treasure for as long as I live.

If you’re into traveling or you plan to travel to other places, there are so many things to consider. First, your passport and Visa, you can’t travel without them. Second, and very important factor would be your budget. You won’t enjoy traveling much if you’d run short on your monetary fuel. So, to enjoy the trip of your life, always plan ahead. Book your plane tickets as well as your hotels a few months before the actual trip. That would save you a lot of money and you can avail of big savings from the discounted offers. An almost fifty percent slash off the normal expense would be great, you can enjoy your trip more and even do extra shopping on the side.

Oz

Mar 09 2008

It hasn’t been a good week for me, and yesterday was just so full of whateverness on the side. But to top it all, today is the worst day of my life. I’m trying to busy myself and do stuff to set bad things and feelings aside. I’ll try not to blog about love right now, it’s just too hard.
Anyway, I just finished transferring funds to my credit card to pay for all the purchases I’ve made on the net for the past few days. Although a lot of people see them to be a liability, for as long as you don’t go overspending and abusing and turning into a bad credit credit cards holder, it could be of great help most especially during emergencies. I remember one time, my best buddy asked me to eat out and buy groceries, but it turned out that Oz left the wallet accidentally at home and all our purchases were already punched in by the cashier, good thing I had my card with me. That saved our day! Ha-ha. You could imagine how funny it was, I ended up poking Oz hard on the side for the trouble. But, I tell you, that wasn’t the only time. I wonder if Ozzie is just really forgetful or trying to pull a crazy trick on me. Whatever it is, Ozzie is still the most wonderful best buddy there is. I was even the one who told Oz to apply for a credit card just in case things like that happens again. I told ozzie to be wise when using it because although there are credit cards for bad credit it is not good for credit reports. I joked about wearing it on, so in case of emergencies, we would always have it. It was just a joke, but Oz ended up getting the wearable mini card too. Well, that’s the way it is! Being crazy the Ozzie way.
