The Big Switch

Dec 23 2009 Published by Alexis under Random Entries

Early next year, I will be purchasing a new subscription on a different hosting provider. I plan to migrate a copy of my files to an online backup server prior to switching into a new account for my hosting, just to make sure that if anything fails, I will still have all my files in a safe place. It’s hard to lose them, in fact, I can’t afford to lose them like what happened  before.

This time  I wanna make sure that the databases are safe and the files can be accessed anywhere I go. It may take a few days or so for me to be able to transfer everything, but I will try to do it as fast as possible to avoid any problems. Hmm.. looks like I will be pretty busy these coming days.

Seeking Greener Pastures

Dec 23 2009 Published by Alexis under Random Entries

Most of my friends in college have already gone abroad to work or migrate. They probably felt that their future will not be as bright as they want them to be if they will stay behind. They simply followed their parents footsteps of seeking greener pastures in afar away land. Our old neighbor used to tell her grand kids, when you grow up you should take up a medical course just like this person or that person because healthcare jobs are in demand abroad, and it will surely make our lives better. Well, she was right, because many of those older generations used their education in the medical field as their ticket to a better career.
Even my relatives have done the same thing, some have gone to UK, and all other areas in Europe, and some are US based. Then they just come home for a vacation every once in awhile, like during reunions or certain special occasions. I think they have adjusted to the way of living already. But even upon seeing how their lives turn for the better and all the luxury they have, I still prefer a simple lifestyle.

Keeping Safe At All Times

Dec 23 2009 Published by Alexis under Random Entries

While on my way to the mall to drop some important stuff, the vehicle that’s three cars away from the one I was riding on got hit by a truck. It was a scary sight. The road was pretty slippery and just coming out from the expressway, the truck probably had brake problems that it wasn’t able to slow down, therefore hitting the car in front. The car’s driver was too shocked to even avoid the impact because the traffic sign was already on its warning state, so he slowed down. Never did he expect that such accident can happen to him and his wife just days before Christmas.

Accidents can happen anytime, and for someone who seems to be so accident prone, I try to as much as possible, keep myself safe all the time by staying away from possible danger. But there are times that we really can’t avoid them, either caused by external factors or simply by our own doing. Well, I guess it is pretty normal for people to commit mistake, that’s why precaution signs and safety products exist. Like what people always say, it’s better safe than sorry. So, just to avoid any mishaps, always be prepared for the worst possible situations and try to implement safety and security measures at all times.

Heroes Of Gaia

Dec 20 2009 Published by Alexis under Random Entries

Heroes Of Gaia is my newest addiction for the moment. I’ve been playing it for a few days now, although I’ve just switched from the Atlas server to the new Zeus server. It’s good that someone told me about this game coz I don’t really have anything to do. Besides, I find this much better than going out — not that I’m a gaming freak or whatever, but this game brings me back to the Heroes of Might and Magic days.
‘Heroes of Gaia’ is a free to play online game, and it’s quite simple to play, though a little lag at times, perhaps because it’s still on it’s beta stage. You gotta try it too…

Stigmatized – The Calling

Dec 14 2009 Published by Alexis under Music and Lyrics

Stigmatized by The Calling is the song I downloaded for the day. There’s a lot of great songs that I have yet to discover and listen to, but for now, I’m trying to recall and download those that I used to have in my playlist… sooner or later I’ll have them all back, then I can start downloading new songs too.

Tease me, by holding out your hand
Then leave me, or take me as I am
And live our lives, stigmatized

The Zahir by Paulo Coelho

Dec 14 2009 Published by Alexis under Random Entries

zahirThe  Zahir, Another Paulo Coelho masterpiece…

Until one morning, I’ll wake up and find I’m thinking about something else, and then I’ll know the worst is over..

My heart may be bruised, but it will recover and become capable of seeing the beauty of life once more..

It happened before, it will happen again, I’m sure.. When someone leaves, it’s because someone is about to arrive. I’ll find love again.

Most Anticipated Event in Las Vegas

Dec 11 2009 Published by Alexis under Random Entries

pacman-mayweatherFinally, the dream match is about to happen, the most anticipated event in Las Vegas in happening this March. A fight between the current number one pound for pound boxer of the world Manny PACMAN Paquiao and the former number one fighter of the world Floyd Mayweather Jr. I bet many fanatics are now booking for las vegas vacation packages so that they won’t miss the event.

Floyd Sr. keeps on saying things about how PACMAN is no match no his son, but Manny prefer to avoid thrash talk, rather he pointed out some of the strengths of Floyd Mayweather Jr. Manny is truly a down to earth guy for someone who has reached the peak of his boxing career.

Taking A Break

Dec 11 2009 Published by Alexis under Random Entries

outer banksOften people forget about how important it is to take a break. We have to free ourselves of life’s stresses. Anyone can work and earn as much money as they want, but in the end they realize that they have forgotten the more important thing which is to spend quality time with their family. Sometimes one has to get sick just to realize he or she needs some time off from work. It shouldn’t be like that. It is essential for every single individual to be able to maintain the balance in life.
Outer Banks rentals are affordable destinations anytime of the year. Many prefer to take a vacation in a a far place where they won’t be reminded of their everyday routine and same faces. Though one should spend time with the family, more often than not, people prefer to stay away from home for the holidays, and some even take a couple of weeks leave from work just to relax and unwind.

Chili Corned Tuna Express

Dec 11 2009 Published by Alexis under Random Entries

chili corned tunaHave you ever tried the hottest thing in town? No, it’s nothing explicit but it’s definitely yummy!

The all new  chili corned tuna s e x. Yes! S e x as in sinangag (garlic fried rice) express with sunny side-up fried egg. A perfect replacement for the old school hot and spicy tuna-si-log.

I love tapsilog (tapa sinangag and itlog) forever, and chili corned beef –  fried rice and egg, but I also  find this new chili corned tuna stir fried in onion and garlic matched with garlic fried rice and  sunny side up fried egg quite refreshing. For the beverage, a glass of iced tea, preferably lemon grass is a plus! And finally ending the meal with a few slices of mixed fruits.

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town

Dec 09 2009 Published by Alexis under Random Entries

santa_The whole city is lit up, the streets have Christmas lights, I think it will run until January and even after the celebration of  Sinulog Festival. Before, whenever I see this kind of sight, it makes me feel good and warm inside, but right now it doesn’t feel the same. Christmas makes me miss the good old days when I was young.

People are already wrapping gifts, and sending Merry Christmas and Happy New Year greetings. Amish fireplace lit up and Christmas trees come alive with decors and lights. I could hear  the kids singing Christmas carols every now and then. I wonder when Santa Claus is coming to town, I hope he drops by my place and give me the things I wished for in my Christmas list. I know I’ve been bad but I wish he’d consider anyway.
